Mission

The Mission of the Sylvia & Martin Snow Family Fund is to be supportive to the many diverse agencies which serve the social service needs of the greater Pittsburgh Community. In supporting these varied agencies, our hope is to encourage greater expansion of creative solutions and to serve as a catalyst for additional program development.

The Trustees of the Foundation have strong personal commitments to certain causes and issues. This sense of wanting to make the world a better place is the driving collective belief that our contribution can make a difference. We believe that the agencies we fund are striving to impact the communities that they serve.

We engage each agency that receives funds from us in an evaluation and assessment process to enable us to better understand the agency, the clients, the issues, and success. The process prepares us to make better future funding decisions. With the help and guidance from The Pittsburgh Foundation, we are better able to partner and serve our growing and more complex communities. The SMSFF is focusing its resources this year to aid distressed populations by targeting grants to agencies who are being challenged to keep services well managed during this difficult time.
